As a network, we believe that the solution is often in the room. Our role is not to have all the answers, but rather to facilitate data-informed learning and collaboration among practitioners to serve all students better. Our members are trying to answer big questions through our social-emotional learning (SEL) data collection and continuous improvement work.

(1) Enlisting social resources: Ability and tendency to ask for help from peers and adults.(2) Self-regulated learning: A cyclical learning process, in which a learner plans for a task, monitors performance, and then reflects on the outcome in order to prepare for the next task

So much of what happens to students is beyond their control; students are told what to do, where to go, and even what to eat with little to no input from them. This is a common experience for far too many students; an experience that perpetuates passivity and the idea that youth are receivers of knowledge rather than co-creators.
