Jamiee joined Student Success Network after working as a practitioner in the college access and success space in NYC. As a Brooklyn native, a daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college graduate from the University of Rochester and Columbia University, Jamiee was driven to this work by her own experiences with higher education.
After several years of work in direct service, Jamiee decided to make a career shift into communications, and it was important for her to enter this field with an organization that is mission- and value-aligned. As a licensed social worker, she appreciates a humanistic, inclusive and empathic approach to content creation and aims to highlight the work SSN and network members are doing in this way.

We asked: What fictional character do you most identify with, and why?
Jamiee answered: Squidward Tentacles. I think Squidward gets a bad reputation because he’s almost always placed in juxtaposition with the ever-happy and bright Spongebob. However, at the end of the day, Squidward is just a cephalopod trying to strike the right balance between the many moving pieces of life, and that’s the beauty of adulthood for me.
